During the days of the Soviet Union, the annual military parades held on Red Square were for most foreign military observers the highlight of the year, the day when the Soviet Union's latest military technology was put on public display. After the Soviet Union broke up the parades were cancelled for nearly two decades. That all changed when in May 2008, tanks, armoured vehicles and rocket launchers returned to Red Square for Russia's first military parade of the 21st Century. This event was repeated in May 2009. This publication illustrates the vehicles shown on the 2008 and 2009 parades on the Red Square, thus granting a look on most recent Russian military vehicle technology.
