This Profile series presents biographies of famous and less famous knights cross holders of the German forces in WW. IISome were spectacular others simply silent fighters. But all of them performed in a unique manner.
Heinz Strüning was the most successful night fighter pilot in the Luftwaffe. In long range night combat sorties he achieved nine confirmed kills before this kind of operation was cancelled by Hitler. He was awarded the highest German order the Ritterkreuz reaching the number of 59 victories. He was killed in an aircraft accident in 1944.
