L'ODYSSEE DE LA COLONNE LECLERC
June 1940. After the fall of France, a fistful of French soldiers refused to lay down their arms. The first military actions under independent Free French leadership took place at thousand miles from France, in Central Africa, under the command of a totally unknown young officer, nicknamed ‘Leclerc’. With small means but high fighting spirit, the ‘L force’, better known as Leclerc Column, waged war on the Italian part of Black Africa, and took part to the collapse of the Axis forces in Tunisia in May 1943.
