After a long planning phase the Canadian Army decided to purchase the German Leopard 1 main battle tank in the C1 version. From 1978 this new tank replaced the ageing Centurions and served in the sabre squadrons of the Canadian regiment deployed to West Germany up till the withdrawal of the Canadian units in 1993. This publication highlights the use of the C1 and its variants in the Germany of the Cold War with many exercise photographs and additional technical details of this unique Leopard version.
